Strain Coefficient of FBG Strain Sensor - Calibration of FBG Strain Sensor - Accuracy Sensitivity Resolution 0.81με/pm (microstrain)
The OFSCN® fiber bagg grating strain sensor (FBG strain gauge) produced by DCYS is calibrated at the factory and comes with the basic strain coefficient and temperature coefficient (also known as calibration coefficient or calibration function) of the fiber bragg grating sensor. Below is a brief description of the calibration of the strain coefficient of the fiber bragg grating strain sensor with a range of 10,000 microstrains at the factory:

1. Product Structure of OFSCN® Fiber Bragg Grating Strain Sensor (FBG Strain Gauge) with Large Range
OFSCN® fiber bragg grating strain sensor (FBG strain gauge) with a large range uses high elastic polymer material to encapsulate and protect the fiber bragg grating (FBG). This encapsulation belongs to the tubular type. The standard product diameter is 2.0 millimeters. The overall structure and product body are shown in Figure 1, 2, and 3 below:

The joint is shown in Figure 4 below:

Because the OFSCN® fiber bragg grating strain sensor (FBG strain gauge) uses a unique patented high elastic polymer tubular encapsulation structure and undergoes our special process treatment, it is easy to install, has a large range, high sensitivity, good accuracy, and small size, light weight, high tensile strength, high compressive strength, high temperature resistance, waterproof and moisture-proof.

High accuracy is the lifeline of DCYS's products. This feature can be verified from the test reports of every sensor that we produce, as shown in the figure below:
Figure 5 |
Figure 5 shows the measured curve of the strain coefficient (calibration coefficient, calibration function) of an actual OFSCN® fiber bragg grating strain sensor (FBG strain gauge) sold, which shows the correspondence between the sensor wavelength change and strain change. The experimental product structure used in the figure is shown in Figure 3 above, which is a double-ended type of serially connected fiber Bragg grating strain sensor with a length of 0.98 meters, prefabricated with 2000με (microstrain), calibrated to 5500με (microstrain).
From the material analysis, the OFSCN® fiber bragg grating strain sensor (FBG strain gauge) can also measure strain at high temperatures of 250 to 300 degrees Celsius, but due to time constraints, this experiment has not been conducted yet - it will be updated after the experiment is completed.
Unlike the example shown in the diagram, our official factory report will provide specific wavelength and strain values. In consideration of the need for temperature compensation, we will also provide the temperature coefficient of the sensor, and this calibration coefficient can be used directly.
Our philosophy is: "OFSCN®, make optical fiber stronger!"
DCYS is a professional manufacturer of large-range fiber Bragg grating strain sensors, providing information on large-range FBG strain gauge calibration methods, calibration experiments, test reports, gauge coefficients, and calibration functions; the brand of large-range FBG strain sensors is " OFSCN".
